Vitamins Can Successfully Treat Acne

Studies have shown that the majority of people in the modern world do not get enough of the vitamins, minerals and herbs that the body needs to work properly.  This deficit can show up in your skin which is the largest organ of your body,  and it needs the proper nutrition to work.  If your body gets the required foods and supplements, it will promote healthy skin and prevent acne.  Vitamins and minerals are an essential part of that nutrition. However, fewer than 32 percent of Americans eat the daily servings of vegetables and fruits they should.  Processed sugars should be avoided altogether.

Some vitamins and minerals are important because they help to flush out free radicals and toxins from the body.  Some have antibacterial effects that help promote the the body's ability to strengthen the immune system. Vitamins and minerals are an important part of keeping pores clean and healing  damaged, acne skin.  Although vitamins and minerals are essential for our body's functions, they  can also be toxic and dangerous if not taken in the right amounts.  Know the recommended dosages of any vitamins you take, and do not go over the limits.

What are some of the important acne vitamins your body needs for blemish free skin?

acne vitamins imageVitamin A strengthens the protective tissue of your skin and helps prevent acne.  It reduces the production of sebum and works in repairing the tissue that skin and mucous membranes are made of.  It’s also a powerful antioxidant.  Antioxidants are important, and they are needed to help rid your body of toxins that have built up.  A lack in Vitamin A can lead to acne.

The Complex B vitamins are also helpful in preserving healthy skin and lessening the chances of acne blemishes.  They are also very helpful in relieving stress. Stress is known to be one of the major contributing factors in causing acne in some people.  The B vitamins should always be taken together.

  • Thiamine is an antioxidant which helps circulation, and aids in digestion.
  • Riboflavin works with Vitamin A and is essential for healthy skin, hair, and nails.
  • Niacinamide helps with the metabolism of carbohydrates in your system and in improving circulation.  A shortage of Niacinamide in your diet can cause acne.
  • Pantothenic Acid or B5 is good for helping to reduce stress and is needed for the adrenal glands to function properly.
  • Vitamin B6, or Pyridoxine is important for the correct function of your immune system and antibody production.

Vitamin C with biofavonoids helps with at least 300 metabolic functions in your body. It is also needed for tissue growth and repair, and flushes toxins from your system.  Vitamin C  improves immunity and protects against infection.  It is important for diabetics to check with their doctor before taking this vitamin.

Chromium, which is known for its use in weight loss also helps fight acne.  Chromium should be taken as a supplement since chromium in foods is not easily absorbed. Chromium is lost in processing and high doses of sugar cause also cause its loss.

Zinc has a role in preventing acne by regulating the activity of the oil glands.  It also promotes the healing in tissues and helps to prevent scarring.  Zinc promotes a healthier immune system that in turn aids in the healing of wounds.  In addition, a powerful antioxidant that helps prevent the forming of free radicals, or toxins that can harm your body.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that improves healing and tissue repair. It prevents cell damage by inhibiting oxidation of fats and the formation of free radicals.

The best acne vitamin is a multivitamin with added chromium supplement. This combination will provide most of what your body needs for the day. It is  recommended that you take a multivitamin twice a day since it is nearly impossible for your body to process all the nutrients it needs in a multivitamin taken only once a day.

As you can see, vitamins and minerals to supplement your diet are important.  There are many other natural herbs that can help control acne too.  An application of tea tree oil on a pimple can reduce bacteria and fight inflammation.

Drinking water at lease eight glasses of water a day will go a long way in keeping your system flushed out and free of toxins.
